Duration of Mould life-cycle
This matter is linked to different factors, among which:
- Material to be moulded
- Series to be moulded
- Complexity of the part
- Type of machine used for moulding
- Operator's care in moulding and maintenance/handling
- Type of material used in the construction of the mould
With reference to the division according to families of Aluminium alloys for moulds, the following table features various successful tests and offers an indicative outline regarding the actual possibilities of moulding with Aluminium alloy moulds.
These experiences, however are not currently adopted on a widespread scale. In fact, alongside the specific industrial sectors/areas that are taking full advantage of the potential of selected aluminium alloys, there are others that, for various reasons, are failing to note the advantages, considering them erroneously, only suitable for the development of prototypes.
